History of the W901

The W901 Sprinter emerged from Daimler-Benz's vision to revolutionize the light commercial vehicle market with modular design and exceptional practicality.

Development began in 1992 as a successor to the T1 van, incorporating lessons from the Transit and creating a completely new benchmark.

Production launched in March 1995 at the Barcelona plant, initially offering six variants with three wheelbase and two roof height options.

The first generation concluded in 2006 after 2.7 million units, establishing the template for three subsequent generations.
